My First Campaign Assignment

As I mentioned in my "comeback" post last week, I have signed up to volunteer for the Obama campaign here in Omaha. I got my first assignment. I will be assisting in the campaign's South Omaha kickoff on Saturday, April 21 at GI Forum. I will also be participating in this year's Cinco De Mayo parade in South Omaha.

South Omaha is a predominantly Hispanic area, and the Latino vote is very important in this year's election. I'm hoping to register some voters and get them excited about this year's election.

With conservatives in this state clamoring to implement Arizona-style "papers please" laws, it is important to show people that there is a different vision for immigration issues provided by the Democrats and Pres. Obama. I look forward to helping get that message out.
