This one just baffles me. Clearly falls into the WTF column. Top Republican strategist and message guru, Frank Luntz, is telling Republican candidates to avoid discussions about and defenses of capitalism. Luntz told Republican governors last month that the public believes “capitalism is immoral. And if we’re seen as defenders of quote, Wall Street, end quote, we’ve got a problem.”
On GOP stooge Sean Hannity's Fox News show, Luntz went further, "Conservatives should not be defending capitalism...Suddenly, they’re trying to defend something that has only 18 percent support."
Considering that conservatives have invested the better part of three years accusing Pres. Obama of waging a "war on capitalism,"* it is odd that, in order to win an election, the Republicans would pretend they are not defenders of every single aspect of capitalism (including downsizing and outsourcing). If the GOP is willing to hide its true beliefs about capitalism, it makes one wonder what other beliefs it is hiding or lying about to win elections.
* Obama has waged no war on capitalism. In fact, he may have saved it back in 2009. There is no "government takeover of healthcare" since the Affordable Care Act kept healthcare in the hands of private insurance companies. Obama's actions also saved the US auto industry from total ruin, while the Republicans wanted the industry to die.
