The right-wing Media Research Center has its panties in a bunch over this month's issue of Maxim featuring Attack of the Show/Daily Show/Perfect Couples hottie Olivia Munn. MRC is tied at the hip to Fox News, and wouldn't you know, Fox News has a story calling for Maxim Magazine to be treated as pornography, and sold with the likes of Playboy and Penthouse. MRC's Vice President of Business & Culture Dan Gainor said this of the new issue, "It's disgusting ... Maxim has moved their magazine from tawdry to full-on pornography ... Any store could have children coming in. If I were a parent, and I walked into a store and saw that cover, I would make a scene until the manager hid it." Wow. He would make a scene. Yikes.
As evidence of the growing disgust with Maxim's turn toward porn, Media Research Center and Fox News are both reporting that Wal-Mart is pulling the issue from its shelves. The problem with this assertion is that Wal-Mart stopped selling Maxim in 2003.

LOL. It's funny but not really. Willful Ignorance is pathetic and scary, and Faux talking heads are either willfully ignorant or sadly just dumb as a box of hammers.
I always chuckle when I am in our local Wal-Mart* and see how the magazine display racks at the check-outs cover up the sidebars on Cosmopolitan so all the puritans won't have to see the word "orgasm". But Maxim? Porno? They have to be kidding. This sounds about as absurd as "the war on Christmas".
*Wal-Mart came to our small town and drove many local businesses so far into the red they became extinct. There are some things Mall-Wart sells that are no longer available in other local stores. Sorry to have to admit that I go in there.
I am fortunate to live in a city where Wal-Mart hasn't killed off all other local businesses...yet. I've only been to Wally World twice in my life. I don't plan on making it three.
