If they hadn't spent the last year and a half spreading lies about health insurance reform, I would almost feel sorry for the GOP today. This picture is from their press conference this morning which was scheduled to compete with the bill signing.
I don't believe so; but keep watching Fox and letting them delude you into thinking the entire country is filled with rabid teabaggers frothing at the mouth, seething with anger over the idea of more people getting health care. I think it is you who will be disappointed in the future.
Yes Dave, go ahead and cheer the triumph of socialism over liberty.
What a crock of sh*t! Big Insurance got more from the Democrats then they every could have hoped for from the GOP. That's not socialism...it's corporatism.
That "corporatism" is just a means to an end. In the near term, the insurance companies will probably even make a greater profit as everyone will be mandated to buy insurance whether they wish to do so or not. (hence yesterday's rise in insurance stocks.)
But, like most people, (especially our brothers and sisters on the left) they don't look at the long term ramifications of this illegal legislation.
As Obama said years ago, he will be patient and enact his socialistic agenda incrementally.
Since health insurance companies now have to cover those with pre-existing conditions and also are being limited on re-imbursements and dictated to on what they can charge for premiums, ultimately they will not be able to compete with the government.
Private insurance companies have to be able to make a profit to survive. The government seemingly doesn't have that problem as they can subsidize their health insurance with tax payer money, borrowing from China, or just simply printing more money.
Eventually the competition will all go broke or realize that there is not any money to be made in the industry. The last player standing will be the only one able and willing to go into trillions of dollars of debt. Our wonderful federal government!
THAT is and always was the plan from the very beginning. It is about the expansion of the federal goverment and its control. Look at the additional 159 agencies and departments created to help administer, monitor, and enforce this damned monster.
That my friend, is good old fashioned Marxism under none other than Chairman Obamao

I'm cheering the triumph of the American people over the insurance lobby, and the potential disintegration of the Republican party.
Wow! The future is going to be REALLY hard on you, my friend!

Glenn Beck couldn't have said it any better. Maybe you two will be able to share a padded room once Obama gets re-elected in 2012.
At least I would have a clear-headed, logical-thinking, room-mate in that padded cell.
With Biden, Obama definitely could not say the same thing in such a situtation. :)
