The right-wing radio host Melanie Morgan has been let go from her job at KSFO radio after 14 years on-air. The station decided not to renew her contract in an effort to cut costs. Morgan said of the firing, "The ratings were terrific and I got to connect with a lot of passionate conservative causes, and I’m really grateful for that. I don’t know what’s going to happen to the show, I don’t know what’s going to happen to KSFO."Ummmm....Mel, if the ratings were terrific they would have kept you and fired someone with lower ratings. That's kind of how the radio business works, dear. Perhaps, you were let go because barely anyone was listening, and in a field dominated by shows just like yours, you weren't very good. Or perhaps, the owners of the station got a conscience and decided they no longer wanted to be responsible for the person who said the following:
On Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi: "We’ve got a bull’s-eye painted on her big, wide laughing eyes."
On NY Times editor Bill Keller: "If he were to be tried and convicted of treason, yes, I would have no problem with him being sent to the gas chamber."
On Holocaust survivor George Soros: "cheerfully and willingly went to work for the Nazis in order to further his own career."

She isn't worth whatever it was they were paying her, and they won't do it anymore. I thought conservatives believed in the free market system.

I don't know about her radio show, I never heard of her before the code pink goofiness arose in Berkley. No matter how bad her show was, helping to expose code (what the hell were we doing in Hawaii in the first place) pink was top rate. Those people were totally goofy. Better yet, was the city counsel in Berkley. Thanks.

Do any of you ever read anything but your own hate filled websites? Try reading websites that have no political agenda, or are funded by people with an axe to grind against the government, like stratfor.com. My son just got back from Iraq. He said the Iraqis are grateful to be finally liberated from a dictator who treated them like slaves, and they can now take charge of their own destiny. But hey, our guys are dying for nothing, RIGHT? We went in for the wrong reasons, but our military earned their respect and gratitude. Al Queda destroyed their infrastructure, we re-built it. AQ cuts off heads, we give them jobs. It's called character. A foreign concept to most of you out there in la-la land.

Iraq - a country without WMD, a nuclear program, or any ties to 9/11 yet that is where you, Mr. genius think we must remain for 100 years.
In poll after poll of civilians and those in the govt, the Iraqis want us to leave. They view the US as the problem, not the solution. I didn't make it that way or wish it that way, but it is that way.
It's no failure on the military's part. They did what they were told, and did it well. The failure is in our civilian commander in chief, George W. Bush. Perhaps, one day, you will rise up from all of your ignorance and see that supporting the troops while not supporting the president is not only possible, but patriotic.
To blindly support an administration that has done more damage and strain to the military by increasing the lengths of tours and screwing the veterans when they come home, plus damaging the US's standing in the world is just plain sad. The Iraqis cannot take control of their own destiny while we are still occupying the country. We need to crush Al Queda. The real Al Queda - the one in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Remaining in Iraq for 100 years or 50 years or even 5 years is hurting our chances of defeating Al Queda because we have become the #1 terrorist recruiting tool. The fact that you don't see this, and cannot follow this basic logic, shows a shocking detachment from reality. I worry for you.

KSFO did not "fire" Melanie. They had no say in the issue.
The parent company, Citadel Broadcasting, is in trouble, and is doing across-the-board cutting at stations all over, and decided as part of that cost-cutting to not renew her contract, despite the show's continued success and profitability.

However, it is a central tenet of capitalism that if something is profitable, you keep doing it. If the show was successful and profitable, they would not be letting you go. It's pretty basic people.
