And here we are now at tonight's show. Lila discovering Doakes, and the FBI closing in on the cabin, make Dexter's original plan somewhat unworkable. I don't want to go too far out on a limb in terms of guessing what will happen tonight, but I don't think it's a stretch to assume that Lila won't be making it to next season. She will be dead by the end of tonight's episode. The real wild card is Doakes. If Dexter won't kill him, and the frame job is compromised, I don't see how both Dexter and Doakes can make it though this episode alive.
However, when Debra researched Lila's background and discovered she is using a fake name and living with an expired visa, this could have created the opening Dexter needed -- even if he is yet unaware of it. The preview for tonight's episode showed the cabin exploding. There are no real clues given as to who (if anyone) was still inside. What if Lila blows it up, killing herself and Doakes, while Dexter escapes unscathed? The police would believe one of two things: either Doakes was the BHB, and Lila was his next victim OR Lila (the fake name having, bogus charge pressing, illegal alien) is the BHB, Doakes was investigating her, and she killed them both with the explosion. Either way, Dexter avoids personally killing Doakes, and he gets away scot free. Tune in tonight to see how close I am.
