How does this keep happening? Another totally straight, not gay in the slightest, Republican lawmaker has been
caught in a gay sex scandal and has resigned from office -- to "spare his family." This time, it's Washington state
Rep. Richard Curtis (R).
Curtis was attending a legislators retreat in Spokane, Washington when he met an anonymous man in an adult book store. After the two went back to
Curtis' hotel and did it
*, the anonymous man apparently tried to extort money from the legislator for his silence about the gay activity.
Talking Points Memo is reporting that
Curtis told police that he "wanted to keep the incident as low key as possible," that he is "not gay," and that he may have been slipped some type of drug that caused him to behave in such a not-not-gay manner.
Naturally,
Rep. Curtis has a lengthy anti-gay voting record in the legislature.
* Curtis denies the "doing it" part. According to him "I was trying to help somebody out. I am not gay. I have not had sex with a guy."
