Madonna in (most likely) - Rush...not so much

So, the nominees came out for the Rock and/or Roll Hall of Fame. We got the friggin' Beastie Boys (really feeling my age now since I saw them play at the Pershing auditorium in 1987 when I was in the 7th grade). In addition, Madonna, Leonard Cohen are also nominated as well as the Dave Clark Five.

What's missing?
Well, Rush, for one thing. Look, guys - I don't care if you think Rush or KISS are "beneath" the status of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. If Sha-Na-Na can be considered, so can Rush. Neil Peart has been an inspiration for a slew of drummers and without Geddy Lee - we probably would have about a third of the innovative bassists we have in rock today. As for the league who does the nominating - it's only going to get worse. Slayer is getting up there for consideration.

Agreed. The fact that Madonna and the Beasties are nominated before KISS or Rush is disgusting. The whole Hall of Fame thing is so political. Say what you will about KISS, but they are one of the most important rock bands of all time. They influenced a million bands, sold 100 million albums, and after 35 years in music, can still sell out arenas and amphitheaters all around the world. That's more than Leonard Cohen could say...

Thank you. It's amazing when you see how many young guys say they were influenced or inspired by Rush.
