Conservative sketch comedy is sort of like Christian Death Metal just can't pull it off.

It looks like intentional comedy is not a forte of Fox News. After September, the network will no longer carry their "didn't I make these kind of body odor jokes when I was in the fourth grade when I was pretending to be on Saturday Night Live?" sketch comedy The 1/2 Hour News Hour, leaving Brit Hume's Special Report and Bill O'Reilly's The O'Reilly Factor as the only other comedy programs on the network.

A few things that still strike me about the show...

- They had an entire f**king week to come up with material while The Daily Show and The Colbert Report have to do it every single night. Even the conservatives who swear the show is funnier than The Daily Show have that lobotomized look of denial like those folks who swear O.J. wasn't the "real killer."

- The Daily Show actually bashed Democrats better than a show that was designed to bash Democrats.

Other news - Slayer's playing in Lincoln tonight.

It was a horribly painful show. Good riddance.

That WASN'T a particularly good show.

They're more successful (but not necessarily better) at talk radio, while we're much more successful, and MUCH better, at comedy.

It must be tough not to understand jokes AND to not have a sense of humor, and The 1/2 Hour News Hour program is probably the result of its writers suffering from both conditions.
