Of All The Things To Be Right About

In light of the recent revelation - via a leak of the National Intelligence Estimate - that Al Qaeda is at its strongest level since prior to 9/11, and that Pakistan has become the new safe haven for Bin Laden and other top Al Qaeda leaders, I went back through my blog to see what I wrote when it was first announced that Pakistan (our "ally") had signed a treaty with the Taliban. On September 6, 2006 I posted So I Guess This Blow's Bush Entire Terrorism Strategy Out The Window.

The American media pretty much ignored or quickly glossed over the news. I linked to an article from Asia Times. Anyway, if you want another reason to say that George Bush is a menace and that the threat of terrorism is now greater because of his terrible decisions, re-read that posting. The CIA has had opportunities to kill these top Al Qaeda leaders, but the Bush Administration would not allow it due to concerns about upsetting Pervez Musharraf. I don't know, I thought Bush said he would treat countries that harbor terrorists the same as the terrorists themselves. He would go anywhere and do anything to get the bad guys. Oh well, another theory shot to shit.
