Free Download - American Music Club "Rise"

San Francisco's American Music Club is one of my favorite bands of all time. The band's leader Mark Eitzel has one of "those" voices -- no matter what he sings it sounds amazingly intense. His lyrics are the darkest of the dark -- loneliness, depression, alcoholism, death. AMC won't cheer you up if you're in a bad mood, but hopefully, it won't push you over the edge if you're feeling blue.

Much of AMC's catalog is currently out-of-print. They recorded for a number of independents from 82-92, including Frontier and Alias Records. They had two albums on a major label before breaking up in 1994, and those are long gone. They got back to together in 2004 and signed with Merge. The song I have here for a free download was originally released on 1991's Everclear album. Alias is now releasing their AMC stuff digitally for the first time. Enjoy.
