The Nixon, er, I Mean, Bush Administration's Pathetic "Offer"

Mike Viquiera from MSNBC has just announced that Fred Fielding (White House Counsel) has made the pathetic offer of allowing Harriet Miers and Karl Rove to testify, but only if they are NOT under oath, the testimony must be in private, and there can be no transcript. Ridiculous!

Why not under oath? Well, so they can lie, of course. And without a transcript, the right can claim Rove and Miers were cooperative and honest. How Nixonian. Well, we all know who Fred Fielding used to work for...

ThinkProgress has shot down the Republican talking point that asking WH advisers to testify under oath is "unprecedented." They have shown that 31 top aides/advisers to President Clinton testified, under oath, in front of Congress, 47 times. Sounds pretty "precedented" to me.

Fucking liars. Do these guys realize they don't control the government anymore? This might have flown with the rubber-stamp GOP Congress, but not anymore!

Congress should take a cue from Nancy Reagan and "just say no".

If the Dems back down on their demand for under oath testimony, I will un-register as a Democrat. Rove is in our sites, now is not the time to back down. They cannot wuss out, and I don't think they are going to actually.

It really gets me. The way I look at it, if you won't testify under oath (in a case that has nothing do with Homeland Security) that means you plan on LYING.

Exactly. And why no transcript of their "conversation"? Only a liar would ask for such terms.
