I tried watching the
VMAs last night on MTV, but shut it off after just a few minutes. MTV is so beyond being even remotely watchable. What is weird is that I still consider myself to be pretty on top of pop culture even though I dislike most of what is popular. At one of my favorite "celebrity" sites,
Egotastic, they have a huge post full of pictures from the red carpet of all the celebrities entering the award show. I barely recognized any of them! Of course,
Jessica Simpson was there. But who the hell are: Audrina Patridge, Ciara, Danity Kane, Heidi Montag, Leonor Varela (who is quite attractive, by the way), or Whitney Port? Have you ever heard of any of these people? Oh, and the bands that played...forget about it! Not a single good band was scheduled to play. MTV is over. For me, anyway. I'm just too old.
