The GOP "Assault on Truth" Still Underway

• Valerie Plame not an undercover CIA operative? Think again. The Bush administration itself said that by making her identity public, whoever leaked her name (Karl Rove!!!) not only compromised her, but also the CIA front company that she worked for. The Bush Administration said this themsleves in October 2003. Do not believe the bullshit coming from the White House, the RNC, right-wing bloggers, or Fox News. Plame was undercover for the CIA. Her identity was compromised by someone inside the Bush administration. And the White House is actively engaged in a cover-up.
  
• Snoop Dogg to perform for the troops. Snoop will headline a show in Hawaii for military members and their families.
  
• Republican Congressman recommends Tim Russert be shot. According to the twisted, demented logic of New York Republican Peter King, Tim Russert should be shot for allowing former Iraqi Ambassador Joe Wilson to be on Meet The Press. This is sickening. First, Republicans endorse killing judges that make decisions that don't square with Focus on the Family; now, according to the GOP, media figures should be shot for giving airtime to anyone who disagrees with the Bush Administration!? No wonder the approval rating for the GOP Congress is somewhere near 20%

• Dukes of Hazzard star Ben "Cooter" Jones urges fans not to see the upcoming Dukes movie. Apparently Jones wrote his fans a letter on his website telling them not to go to the movie (which Jones admits he hasn't seen -- only read the script). But Cooter...the script doesn't show you Jessica Simpson in Daisy Duke shorts. That's the reason to see the movie. Stupid redneck.
  

• Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld personally approved of the "questionable" interrogation techniques of detainees. Forget the debate about whether or not the interrogations constitute torture, how about the fact that for the last two years the Bush Administration has been lying to the American people. They have stated numerous times that no one from the Defense Dept. or the Bush Administration knew about or authorized such tactics. Now it seems Rumsfeld personally approved the use of the tactics at Guantanamo Bay. Is it really so hard to believe that he then ordered the same thing be done at Abu Ghraib? The Bush folks have already lied about this subject numerous times, so if they deny this...
  
• Iowa man arrested after claiming he was taking a truck full of explosives to Washington, DC. Apparently this man was bragging about his activities on a CB radio, and some truckers that overheard called the police. Good job.
