Clarion Ledger- Senate Approves Lynching Resolution: Lawmakers demonstrated overwhelming support Monday for a resolution that apologizes for the Senate's failure to do anything to stop lynchings that killed thousands of people over more than eight decades.
Guess who didn't support the legislation? Mississippi's Senatorial delegation: Trent Lott and Thad Cochran. Both are Republicans. Mississippi led the nation in lynchings and racially motivated hate crimes. Remember when Lott said he wished segregationist Strom Thurmond had become President in 1948? Mr. Lott definitely has Mississippi in his blood.
