Dark Stuff's GOP Douchebag Hall of Fame - Rep. Joe Wilson (SC)

I know that last time I said the next entry into the GOP douchebag Hall of Fame would be Ken Tomlinson. However, something uttered by South Carolina Republican Congressman Joe Wilson moved him to the top of the list. We all know the GOP is suffering in the polls. Only 17% of Americans say that Congress shares their priorities, and President Bush's job approval rating is at its lowest ever. Clearly all the lies that have been told to the American people since 2001 have come back to bite the GOP in the ass. Bush's Iraq War is proving to make Americans less safe than they were before, and is causing a lot of unneccessary civilian and military deaths. The Republicans are scrambling to find someone to blame for their sagging poll numbers. Rather than level with the American people and simply admit that the war is failing and we need a new strategy, the Republicans have taken to attacking the war's critics. This douchebag, Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina, said yesterday that Democrats that criticize the war effort or who support humane treatment of detainees (or officially charging them with a crime) are fighting against the US troops. Here is what he said:

" the midst of the war, that the Democratic leaders would be conducting guerrilla warfare on American troops."
He then said...

"The American taxpayer is already providing accommodations for detainees, who are currently more comfortable than most of our men and women in uniform,"

Conducting war on the American troops? Huh? The Democrats are the ones in Congress fighting for the troops! They are the ones that want a plan for victory not Bush's haphazard recipe for failure. Bush had no plan for a post-war Iraq, he has foolishly decided that the Geneva Convention does not apply in his war -- except to Sadam Hussein (who gets all the Doritos he wants). Mr. Wilson, if you don't believe in freedom of speech and the Bill of Rights then why do you support bringing freedom to other nations?

As for his second comment, I don't think the troops are lying in their barracks at night chained to a wall, in a fetal position, shitting all over themselves. Saying our prisons are better than the accomodations given to soldiers is stupid. And if it were true, perhaps the Republican-dominated appropriation or armed services committees should see where the 100s of billions of dollars is going! Check with Dick Cheney. His fat ass has a nice place to sleep every night thanks to all the money Halliburton is swindling from this war.
